To me, it is most comforting and totally amazing at the same time to discover that there are other human beings who FELT LIKE ME. The greatest relief for me is to realize I am not alone with my feelings, and I also never was. Even if I did not know at the time.

Hi, I'm Hope. I've spent more than 30 years doing this work — because I had to.

I lost my own mother at 17. When I went looking for a book that could help a daughter like me, I couldn't find one. So a decade later, I wrote it myself.

Motherless Daughters became an international bestseller and remains the defining book on mother loss for daughters of all ages.

I've since written two more books on the long-term effects of early mother loss, led 29 in-person retreats, and built one of the only ongoing communities specifically for motherless daughters.

What I bring to this work isn't just research or credentials — it's that
I've walked this road myself.

I muddled through much of my adult life the same way the daughters I now support do. It wasn't until I was in my 50s that I received the trauma counseling I'd needed for decades. That experience became the foundation for everything I now offer.

I bring to this work what no one else can: the combination of deep personal experience, 30+ years of research, and thousands of daughters' stories held with care.
